Mr. Kahan has almost 20 years experience as a senior executive with Internet start-ups. Prior to assuming business leadership roles. David spent 5 years practicing law with the Boston firm of Foley Hoag, and spent 4 years working on Capitol Hill focusing on tax and budget policy. David holds a J.D. from Yale Law School and a B.A. from Columbia College.

Ben Matzkel has over 15 years of information security and software engineering expertise. Prior to co-founding Vaultive, Ben served as a senior product manager at McAfee. Ben performed his military service at 8200, the IDF’s leading intelligence unit, and graduated from the Interdisciplinary Center and the University of Pennsylvania and received a B.A. in Computer Science, Magna Cum Laude.

Bruce Johnson brings more than 25 years of information security experience to Vaultive. As vice president of sales and business development at Vormetric, Johnson grew annual revenues to over $40 million per year and was instrumental in the company’s ascent to category leadership. He’s passionate about helping customers reduce risk though the use of innovative technology.

Stu Vaeth is a technology executive bringing over 25 years of information security industry experience, specializing in encryption, online identity and authentication. Prior to joining Vaultive, Stu held leadership positions at SecureKey Technologies, RSA Security, Thales (nCipher) and GTE, in disciplines ranging from engineering, product management, marketing, business development and GM. Stu received his MBA from Boston University and his BS in electrical engineering from Bucknell University, and resides in Winchester, MA.

Doug Lane has a successful 20-year track record of bringing technology products to market and has held leadership roles in marketing and product management for startup environments, like Virtual Computer and Guardent, as well as growth-stage companies such as VeriSign and AppSense. Doug holds a B.S.Sp. in Communication, Politics, and Law from Emerson College and an M.B.A. in Marketing from Boston University.

Yael Nishry brings to Vaultive a wealth of experience in security sales, business advisory and risk management experience. She is a professional services executive with in depth understanding of business drivers and experience in designing controls to mitigate and manage risk. Previously, Yael held managerial positions with KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where she provided risk management and regulatory consulting for complex IT organizations at Fortune 500 companies.

Ron Koren leads Vaultive’s customer facing engineering team. His experience includes the development and deployment of worldwide large-scale projects for commercial and government organizations. Ron’s expertise includes in depth knowledge of a diverse set of Information Security technologies and communication protocols. Prior to Vaultive, Ron served as a team leader and senior system engineer at Cisco Systems, and led an elite IT security deployment team while an officer in the Israel Defense Force (IDF).

Jonas Hellgren, President and CEO


Jonas Hellgren joined Vaultive in 2014, with more than 20 years of experience in business management and strategic development of high-growth, high-tech companies. Most recently, Jonas served as Senior Vice President of Jumptap, a mobile advertising company acquired by Millennial Media, where he led operations through rapid revenue growth from $0 to over $100M. Prior to Jumptap, Jonas served as Vice President of Operations at Verisign, where he oversaw the Managed Security Services Operations.


Jonas has a passion for building and scaling high-tech companies, and is actively involved as an advisor to several other tech start-ups. Jonas holds a Masters degree in computer science from Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden.

Ben Matzkel, Co-Founder and CTO


Ben Matzkel brings more than 15 years of information security and software engineering expertise to Vaultive, where he oversees product strategy as well as the company’s strategic partnership initiatives. Prior to co-founding Vaultive, Ben served as a senior product manager at McAfee, overseeing the product lifecycle, business focus and development roadmap of McAfee DLP (Data Loss Prevention). He joined McAfee as part of the Onigma (DLP) acquisition. At Onigma, Ben started and led the Professional Services team, handling all pre- and post-sale activities. Prior to starting this team, he designed the product’s enterprise interfaces and participated in the development of the product’s management console.


Ben performed his military service at 8200, the IDF’s leading intelligence unit, holding various technical positions in high-performance mission-critical and large-scale projects. During his service he was awarded the ‘distinguished soldier’ award. Ben graduated from the Interdisciplinary Center and the University of Pennsylvania and received a B.A. in Computer Science, Magna Cum Laude. He was awarded the distinguished Efi Arazi scholarship for future technology entrepreneurs and the Chais family award for superior academic achievements.

Dave Cullinane, CEO and Founder, SecurityStarfish


Dave Cullinane is a globally recognized leader and visionary in the IT security industry. Prior to founding SecurityStarfish, he served for five years as a vice president and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for eBay, where he was responsible for global fraud, risk and security strategy, and for programs that provided security for eBay and its many global businesses, including StubHub, InternetAuction.co and GSI Commerce.


Prior to joining eBay, Dave was the CISO for one of the largest banks in the United States. He has more than 30 years of IT security experience and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and a former Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP). Dave is a founding member and chairman of the board of the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA). He is the past president and chairman of the IT-ISAC, an organization dedicated to sharing security-related information across companies in the IT industry. He served as a member of the IT Sector Coordinating Council and the National Council of ISACs. He is an ISSA Fellow, and was recently elected to the ISSA Hall of Fame. He serves on ASIS International’s CSO Roundtable Committee and is on the Editorial Advisory Board of CSO Magazine and SC Magazine. He was awarded SC Magazine’s Global Award as Chief Security Officer of the Year for 2005 and CSO Magazine’s 2006 Compass Award as a “Visionary Leader of the Security Profession.” In 2012 he was awarded SecureWorld’s first Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contributions to the advancement of the information security community.

Maria Cirino, Co-Founder and Managing Director, .406 Ventures


Maria has been building and founding technology businesses for 25 years. Her operational, entrepreneurial, and senior management experience in venture-backed technology companies includes two Massachusetts IPOs of the Year and the founding of two successful companies and a venture capital firm. Prior to co-founding .406 Ventures, Maria served as senior vice president of VeriSign following its 2005 acquisition of Guardent, the market leading Managed Security Services provider for $142 million. Guardent was a Sequoia, Charles River Ventures and NEA-backed IT security company that Maria co-founded and led as CEO. In this role, Maria received several industry honors and awards, including “Massachusetts CEO of the Year” and “Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year.”


Prior to Guardent, Maria was senior vice president responsible for sales and marketing at Razorfish, an IT services company that acquired her previous company, i-Cube, for $1.8 billion in 1999. At i-Cube, Maria led sales and marketing. Prior to i-Cube, from 1993 – 1997, Maria was responsible for North American sales at Shiva, the category-creating remote access leader. Prior to Shiva, Maria held sales and marketing roles at Lotus Development Corporation and Software City Inc.


Maria holds a B.A. in English literature from Mount Holyoke College, where she has served as a Trustee and currently serves as a member of the college’s investment committee.


At .406 Ventures, in addition to her investment activities, Maria manages brand building and deal flow strategy and currently serves on the boards of .406 portfolio companies Vaultive, Bit9, Digitalsmiths, Kaltura, Memento, Mineral Tree, Veracode and Adtuitive, until acquired by Etsy in December 2009.

Somu Subramaniam, Managing Partner, New Science Ventures


Somu co-founded New Science Ventures in 2004. He serves on several Boards of NSV’s portfolio companies including Vaultive, Achronix Semiconductor, RF Arrays, Therox, BioVex, Receptor Biologix, and Celleration. He also is an observer to the boards of Light Sciences Oncology, Xoft and BioProcessors. Prior to starting New Science Ventures, Somu was a Director at McKinsey & Co. and at various times led their Strategy Practice, Technology Practice and HealthCare Practice. While at McKinsey, he advised leading multinational companies in the pharmaceuticals, medical devices, biotechnology, photonics, software and semiconductor industries. He also was a member of McKinsey’s Investment Committee. Somu received his undergraduate degree (B.Tech.) from the Indian Institute of Technology and his MBA from Harvard Business School.
